The National Coalition Against Censorship is dedicated to protecting rights
and principles guaranteed by the First Amendment. We report on incidents of
censorship and provide support and resources to people facing challenges to freedom
of inquiry and expression.
The National Coalition Against Censorship, in partnership with the Vera List Center at the New School and the School of Visual Arts, is organizing a series of programs that highlight the effects 1990s attacks on culture continue to have on art and society. Announcing the 2010 Youth Film Contest! Each year NCAC challenges young people all across the nation to think about their First Amendment rights and the issue of Free Speech. This year, respond to the topic "I'm All For Free Speech, BUT..." by October 31 with a 4 minute film and win cash prizes, a scholarship to the New York Film Academy, and a trip to NYC!
NCAC and eight other groups blast CommonSenseMedia.org for its book rating system, which warns about all the things “to watch out for” hidden between the covers of books, but rarely has anything good to say about the value of literature and reading.
